Upcoming Book Events!
Hi everyone! There are some exciting book events happening in the coming month.
The first is the Goa Book Fair and Children's Book Festival, where we will have a table. Hopefully it will not rain, but if it does, we will still be cheerful, like these ghosts.
Meanwhile, 14400 kilometres away in California, we'll be attending the L.A. Zine Fest. The ghosts on this flyer are cheerful too! They just express it differently!
In L.A. we'll have a special visitor -- Nabi H. Ali, who did the cover art for Gujarati Pulp Fiction and wrote an incredible story called "Melonhead" for Anti-Caste SF about a South Indian Shi'a muslim family's encounter with the ghost of a murder victim. Get him to sign your copies!
Back in Goa! The next day, Sunday, Mar 2 at 5 pm, River of Stories author Orijit Sen will be giving a talk and workshop on the art of Goa's legendary cartoonist Mario Miranda.
And back across the ocean once again! At the Sensory Lab in Merced, California on Saturday, March 8, we'll be tabling at the Central Valley Zine Fest! This flyer has robots instead of ghosts and while it may be a little hard to gauge their mood from their expression I assure you they are very excited.
And the last event of the month is in L.A. again, at AWP! This demon-butterfly is positively giddy with anticipation!
We'll be sharing a stall with a bunch of extraordinarily cool publishers and programs, including Kaya Press, Slant'd, the Asian American Writer's Workshop, and the Asian American Literary Review.
On Saturday Mar 29, Blaft editor Rakesh Khanna will be on a panel called "Shaking Up the 3%: Publishing Transnational Genre Lit" with Neelanjana Banerjee of Kaya, Jee Leong Koh of Singapore Unbound and Nadine Santoro of the Feminist Press.
There will be a chance to win freebies at the booth and we'll have new zines for sale.
Hope to see you there!
