Submission & Internship Guidelines

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please mail us at blaft@blaft.com.

TranslatorsPlease send us submissions and proposals, especially genre fiction and folklore from languages that are underrepresented in English translation.

Comics Artists & Graphic Novelists: Send submissions of complete or partially complete short comics and graphic novels. If your graphic novel still only exists as an idea in your head, please wait to contact us until you've got more to show.

Writing in English: We are interested in speculative fiction, defined broadly: science fiction, supernatural, horror, weird, etc. You can send manuscripts or samples (put "Submission" in the subject line somewhere), but be aware that we often receive more English manuscript submissions than we have time to get around to reading, and we can be slow to respond. If you've been waiting for a month without a reply you can send us a reminder, and that should nudge us to action.

Poetry: We don't publish poetry, with the possible exception of Oulipian cybernoir limericks.

AI Policy: Every submission we have seen that has been created using GenAI tools exudes a sort of nauseating ickiness, a hollow stench of anthropocidal amorality that fills us with despair and gives us ankle rash. Yuck. Don't want.

INTERNSHIP GUIDELINES

Those interested in a mix of editorial, administrative and design internships can get in touch by sending their resume and/or portfolio to blaft@blaft.com.

Don't forget to tell us a little about yourself: career goals, interests and why you would like to be a part of our small team. All resumes are reviewed on a regular basis. Candidates will be notified by e-mail about available opportunities.
